Sincere, Sardonic, Sentimental, Silly

B&W film photography by CS students at IUT Robert Schuman in Illkirch, France

These photos were taken by my second year computer science students at IUT Robert Schuman as a part of the final project for their English classes. In addition, they wrote extended captions for their photos (in case of absence, they captioned the image of another student). I gave them a lot of freedom, and you can see a beautiful creativity in their work, sometimes sincere and sardonic, other times sentimental or just plain silly. In other words—project success!

The photos were taken with a Nikon F100, using 35mm black & white film—Fomapan 400, Fomapan 100, and Ilford HP5+. I developed these photos with Rodinal and scanned them using a Plustek OpticFilm 8100. I have not corrected the captions in order to reflect the true English level of each student.
